Matthews welcomes €100k for Newtownmountkennedy GAA

Steven Matthews TD has warmly welcomed and congratulated Newtownmountkennedy GAA on their award of €100,000 to develop a walking track at the club under the Community Recognition Fund.

Speaking after the announcement Deputy Matthews said “This is a great project proposed by the club, and I am delighted to support the initiative as well as the other successful Wicklow applicants”

“In total Wicklow will receive almost €700,000 for the following projects:

Dunlavin Imaal Hall €60k for facilities upgrades, Dunlavin GAA €144k for a multi use games area. Bray Area Partnership €50k to purchase a new vehicle. Rathdrum Playground Committee €54.5K and Arklow Town Team €135k for works to improve playground and public places.

The Community Recognition Fund is a large investment in sports clubs, community centres, parks, walking trails and playgrounds to make our communities better places to live, work and grow up in”

“If your group was unsuccessful or didn’t get an application in time, there is still more to come with further phases of funding. The next phase runs up to September 30th and the final phase up to January 31st next year, so there is plenty time to plan and prepare.

If you wish to contact me, I would be very happy to work with your group to assist in a funding application” concluded Deputy Matthews
